Mark Weaver and Damien Ellwood work for the Department of Industry Innovation and Science in the Growth Centre Policy Section. We have policy responsibility for Growth Centres (including objectives around increasing collaboration and commercialisation; and improving access to global supply chains and international opportunities for industry), and we are on the secretariat for the University Precincts Advisory Committee.

We are interested in identifying and communicating industry need for research and innovation (e.g. through the Growth Centres' Industry Knowledge Priorities); in improving the links between industry and researchers (e.g. through innovation precincts); and in local and regional business and innovation networks focusing on export opportunities.

Mr David Eyre

I am leading the bid to establish an Advanced Urban Agrifood CRC (AUA).  The AUA CRC aims to develop unique urban agrifood solutions tailored to Southern Hemisphere climates and markets with a view to developing export scale for value-added fresh, health and personalised foods (‘wellness’ foods). Global demand for provenance-protected goods in these categories is projected to reach AU$8 trillion per annum by 2025, with the majority of new demand arising in Asia.  The AUACRC program delivery model involves piloting integrated agrifood cluster solutions, colocated with regional and capital city airports.

The AUA CRC bid consortium includes Food Innovation Australia, NSW Farmers, UNSW, UNE, WSU and CDU.

We would like to meet with large firms and SMEs with interests in high-tech indoor cropping technology; product innovation in health foods, 'free from' foods, nutraceuticals; and flexible food processing technology and logistics solutions for highly customised goods.

Our prospectus can be viewed at https://crca.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/AUA_CRC_Prospectus.pdf
